Going Green

Committed to saving the planet?  You’re in good company – Crackskull’s is dedicated to being a green business.  We make as many green decisions as we can, and use as many green products as we can afford.  Here are a few of the ways that we’re trying to help the planet.

Recycling

Crackskull’s business is based on recycling…books, that is!  Every used bookstore helps the environment just by reselling used books, which is just one more reason to shop used.

All of our shopping bags and cafe magazines are 100% donated by our customers and employees.  Remember, finding new uses for “trash” is even better than recycling!

Additionally, we recycle as much of our trash as possible.  We also compost all of our coffee grounds and filters!

EcoSleeves

EcoSleeves are a new type of coffee sleeve, made from polystyrene and thousands of tiny air bubbles.   EcoSleeves contain at least 25% recycled material, are manufactured using 100% clean, renewable energy, and biodegradable.  EcoSleeves are also upcyclable, which means that they can be recycled into the same product again and again.  (Usually, things are recycled into lower grade products.)   If you’d like to learn more about the environmental benefits of EcoSleeves, you can do so here.

Greenware Cups

We use Greenware products for all of our cold beverages. We love Greenware cups because they are manufactured here in America, and they are made entirely of plants rather than oil.   100% natural and certified compostable,  Greenware is produced by Fabri-Kal, an environmentally friendly company committed to creating their products in the most environmentally responsible manner.  If you’d like to read more about Greenware or Fabri-Kal, follow this link.
